I am not trying to compete with an Indian take-away, by providing a high volume of meals at short notice.

It is closer to compare Tribal Curry to the booking of a personal chef. This is done in advance. The ingredients are sourced for the day, to prepare your food at the chef’s home, for delivery the same day.

The number of delivery options provided is constantly under review.

Definitely. My ability to cater for large groups is impacted by what you would like and how much notice I get before you need me.

All curry is packaged in a 1,000 ml containers per individual serving. I don’t weigh each plate of food. Instead, I treat this as we would at home and make sure that each person gets a proper portion.

How much meat, pulse, veg etc that you get each order may differ, but it should always be plenty.

Cooked rice is packaged in 500 ml containers per individual serving.

If bread is available* for order, we will provide 3 individual pieces per individual serving.

*bread is only available with fresh cooked curry and not with freshly frozen.

This is not possible. The food is made to order and priced on the basis that what is made, is paid for. We don’t want to see those who pay as promised, pay a premium to cover the cost of those who don’t.

We do not offer refunds if you are not happy with the food that I have prepared / delivered.

It is possible, that whilst the quality of food you receive is high, the meal is not to your taste. This is a risk of trying something new.

All my curry will have a heat. My experience of cooking for a British husband and his family / friends means that I am used to gauging how hot is the right heat. However, if you like a lot of heat like we do in the village where I grew up, select the spicy option and I will prepare the food more to my taste and less suitable for my husband.

N.B. Not all chillies have the same strength. Whilst we source ingredients from regular suppliers, there is still a possibility that the food is more or less spicy than intended.

Tribal Curry is a food business registered with the Environmental Health Team of Colchester Borough Council.

Our vegetarian food abstains from all kinds of meat (red meat, poultry, seafood, and the flesh of any other animal), plus abstention from by-products of animal slaughter.

Like a lacto-vegetarian diet, it includes dairy products but NOT eggs.

No, the food will have been cooked to order on the day that you need it delivered, but because it will often not be delivered immediately (as would be the case with a take-away), we will ensure that your food is properly chilled to avoid any quality deterioration or growth of harmful bacteria.

Your prepared food will be delivered chilled and in containers that are both freezable and suitable for the microwave, so you have a choice when to heat or defrost, heat and serve your curry.

Your freshly prepared food is frozen as soon as it has been properly chilled down. Before your food is frozen, your curry is put into the container in which it will be delivered.

Please ensure that you thoroughly defrost your freshly frozen food before you re-heat it.

We call it freshly frozen, for two reasons:

• The food is frozen as soon as it has been properly chilled, in the container in which it will be delivered.
• Your food will have spent no more than 1 week in the freezer and probably a lot less. In other words, if we are only able to deliver fresh cooked home curry on a Thursday and you have opted for delivery of your freshly frozen curry the following Wednesday, the food will have at most been prepared the previous Thursday.

Quite simply, because some ingredients do not freeze well. I would rather serve less freshly frozen options, than serve poor quality food.

Our arrangement may change in the future, but we currently use a local leaflet delivery company who have agreed to deliver our orders, where we need and on time.

They have been provided with insulated carrying equipment to transport the food, which will be either chilled or frozen until collected, to ensure that it is delivered with the same quality as it had when it left our kitchen.
